On&Offline Cinephile Diaries (No. 1)

Last night I watched "The VelociPastor" with a group of friends in Noa's apartment. On paper, the story of a priest who can turn into a dinosaur and teams up with a hooker to punish bad guys isn't the most elite cinephile-friendly narrative ever, but what can I say? I loved it. It's been a long time since the last "B-Movie" that I watched, and due to certain reasons, they always have a safe spot in my heart. Generally, I don't understand the hate towards them from the upper echelon of the cinephile society, usually those who have a preference for specific European cinemas. The beauty of something like "The VelociPastor" is that a group of people pooled their resources to create a movie this ridiculous, knowing that nobody in Hollywood would take them seriously. This is why I have more respect for the cast and crew of a movie like this than for certain films that have been made solely to gain recognition from an event like Cannes.

Another pleasing aspect of watching “The VelociPastor” was that after having two courses related to movie production, I could quite comprehend the effort they put into the project and some visual techniques that they used during the movie. It felt like since having these courses, I frankly learned something related to my interests, and who knows, maybe connected to my future career path.
