I Think I'm Kinda Done with Instagram

A couple of weeks ago, I went on a rant about how Instagram is becoming the worst application on the planet (ok, maybe I was exaggerating, as nothing can beat X), and more recently, I was digging for a replacement, as I can't really control the need to share the pictures in my gallery with the world. The solution to that came in the form of Noa sending me a link to a blog post about a website called "Moments." To be fair, I spent only one or two hours understanding its functions and comparing it to Instagram, and in my opinion, it cut out all the annoying things that one (me) might find on Instagram, from AI-made content to a shitload of ads (that are also AI-made). Furthermore, I believe it doesn't have the same goal as Instagram (at least for now), as currently, Instagram is way different than a cute app for sharing your random photos, and most likely a short content platform that harms every brain cell after years of daily usage. Additionally, in my latest stage of phone detoxification, after beating the evil of X and setting a time limit for Instagram, I need to reduce my screen time, which has been skyrocketing since last spring, and what's better than getting rid of the app I use more than anything once and for all? Yesterday, I was chatting with a friend about how the newer generations are less patient, and my issue with the format of political discussion on X. I like blogging because I can give as much context as I want, and I believe the readers are patient enough to follow me through these lines and conceptualize a bigger picture about I think about the matter, and based on the emails I got lately, try to initiate a human interaction that carries a greater weight. In contrast, X provokes the most animalistic way of discussion, which, in some areas like political debate, not only avoids any sort of intellectual support but also increases the gap between two or any number of sides in the argument. Instagram might not serve the same interest, as it's more reliant on a visual language, but the damage that it's doing is to kill any sort of attention span. But yeah, I hope Moments doesn't fall off like Instagram, and those who really are into photography and sharing their visual memory with the world outside get an RSS reader and join its community.
