Having Normal Nails after 15 Years
It took me a decade and a half to fully realize how ugly my fingers are without nails, and while I had multiple unsuccessful attempts in the last two years to overcome this ludicrous addiction, none of the solutions were as satisfactory as wrapping a stick plaster around my fingers for an entire week, and later, have a calming blue ball (yes, I myself chose that color for later making jokes about it) for time of stress, both were excellent ideas from my genius friend, Friederike, who was my biggest supporter during this period. I also started using a day counter for checking the duration and ultimately, glaze myself with the long way I came to get there. Surprisingly, I needed 44 days to eventually feel the sound of my nails tapping the phone screen and experience a particular sensation after touching objects that I hadn't done in all those years. Truth be told, I was quite close to reaching this goal last summer before the war broke out between Iran and Israel, but this time, I had other ways to control that stress without hurting my body and how it looks. Overall, having nails is amazing, and I hope I can keep this habit in the future.
